Aloha Surf Hotel is a unique place to stay in Maui on a budget! Located on Maui’s North Shore, Aloha Surf Hostel offers both private and dorm accommodation for budget-minded travelers. In fact, since it’s located between two surf spots: Ho’okipa and Kanaha Beach, you’ll have no problem coming across surfers too.
So, if you’re planning to stay at the Aloha Surf Hostel for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. The hostel has daily free tours to the best destinations on the island as well as a free hot tub, parking, and breakfast.
Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort (unique places to stay in maui)
Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort is another unique place you can stay at in Maui! It’s a chic, modern, hip, resort hotel that overlooks Mokapu Beach on the island. In fact, if you’re a party loving Millenial or Gen Z, you’ll also love their luau feasts as well. They do them from time to time on Mokapu Beach to depict Hawaii’s history and culture through music and dance.
So, if you’re planning to stay at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. Their amenities such as a rooftop bar and spa will make you never want to leave.
Maui Beach Hotel (unique places to stay in maui)
Maui Beach Hotel is another unique place you can stay at in Maui! Sitting in Kahului, the hotel is a 10-minute drive from the airport. The rooms even include a King or a Queen bed or two double beds. In fact, you can choose a variety of options for your room. These options include but are not limited to a standard budget option and an Oceanfront King Suite option.
So, if you’re planning to stay at the Maui Beach Hotel for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. It’s the perfect home base for you to explore the rest of the island.

Maui Seaside Hotel is another unique place you can stay at in Maui! Also sitting in Kahului, the hotel is a 10-minute drive from the airport. The rooms even include a Standard, Superior or a Deluxe. The only main difference between these three options is the view. So, if you’re looking to keep some money in your pocket, I highly recommend the Standard option.
The room rates here also start at $399 per night but be prepared to pay more if you’re booking during peak season. The most expensive time to book is in the summer.

The Northshore Hostel is another unique place you can stay at in Maui! Like Aloha Surf Hostel, it’s very budget-friendly and it offers several different variations of rooms. If you’re a female solo traveler, a room in a female dorm costs around $64 a night. Which isn’t too bad if I say so myself!
In fact, from the looks of the YouTube video above, this hostel won’t fail to provide you with a place to sleep for the night, warm hospitality, and friendly people. So, if you’re planning to stay at the Northshore Hostel for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. The hostel even has private parking as well as a garden and a terrace.
Nalu Kai Lodge (unique places to stay in maui)
Nalu Kai Lodge is another unique place you can stay at in Maui! Located in Paia, the lodge is 10 minutes down the Road to Hana from Kahului near the Hana Highway. In fact, if the Road to Hana is all you plan to do, this is the perfect place to stay.
In the center of everything, you can pretty much do anything on the Road to Hana like hiking, sight-seeing, or state parks.
So, if you’re planning to stay at the Nalu Kai Lodge for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. The room rates start at $155 per night and its close to Upcountry Maui.

Aina Nalu Lahaina by Outrigger is another unique place you can stay at in Maui! Located in the heart of Lahaina Town, Aina Nalu Lahaina by Outrigger is a condo-style cheap Maui hotel.
Each condo at the hotel has its own kitchen and there’s a one bedroom with a sofa-sized bed. In fact, the hotel even has two outdoor pools, a variety of outdoor lanais and a hot tub.
So, if you’re planning to stay at the Aina Nalu Lahaina by Outrigger for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. The room rates start at $400 a night but it’s too good of a deal to pass up.
Lahaina Inn (unique places to stay in maui)
Lahaina Inn is another unique place you can stay at in Maui! Also located in the heart of Lahaina Town, the inn is seconds away from Front Street where you can do a lot of cool things. In fact, if you’re a guest at this inn, you’ll also have access to the other amenities that are available at the Royal Lahaina.
So, if you’re planning to stay at the Lahaina Inn for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. The room rates start at $516 a night which is a great deal if you want to be located around all the action.
Tiki Beach Hostel (unique places to stay in maui)
Tiki Beach Hostel is another unique place you can stay at in Maui! The room rates start at $74 a night and the beds are in a dormitory setting. In fact, the great thing about this hostel is the location. It’s right in the middle of all the action so if you’re the kind of traveler that likes to walk, this is the place for you. You can walk to Lahaina Town from the hostel and it’s also right by the beach.
So, if you’re planning to stay at the Tiki Beach Hostel for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. The hostel is also near a great surf spot if you’re planning to learn how to surf too.

Ka’anapali Ocean Inn is another unique place you can stay at in Maui! Located right on Ka’anapali Beach, the inn is open for 24 hours. In fact, some nearby activities include but are not limited to snorkeling, cliff jumping, swimming and surfing.
So, if you’re planning to stay at the Ka’anapali Ocean Inn for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. In fact, in the morning, feel free to walk along the boardwalk after getting out of bed. It’s a great way to start your day so you might as well make the most of it while you’re there.
