Safeway (lahaina grocery stores)
Safeway is a great grocery store in Lahaina you need to visit! It’s open 24 hours and it has a huge selection of product choices. In fact, in addition to the food, they also have a bakery, a deli, and a coffee shop.
The only downsides you should be aware of when it comes to Safeway are the prices and the parking. The prices for groceries at Safeway are way more expensive compared to the mainland and the parking lot can be packed at times.
So, if you’re planning to visit Safeway for the first time in Lahaina, I highly recommend it. The store is clean and organized and they even have a Starbucks inside.
Island Grocery Depot (lahaina grocery stores)
Known as a local, family-owned grocery store, Island Grocery Depot is another great Lahaina grocery store you need to visit! It has national branded grocery items that you can find in the store in addition to hard-to-find local specialties.
These national branded grocery items include items in the meat, grocery and produce departments as well as those that are diabetic and natural foods. The hard-to-find local specialties also come from area farmers and producers.
So, if you’re planning to visit Island Grocery Depot for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. You can get a lot of grocery items in bulk there and their prices are usually lower than other grocery options in the area.
Foodland (lahaina grocery stores)
Foodland Lahaina is another great Lahaina grocery store you need to visit! Cheaper than Safeway, it has a fantastic selection of poke at reasonable prices. In fact, one guest even went so far as to say that they have the best poke in Lahaina.
To find the poke counter at Foodland Lahaina, go to the back of the store. Many guests purchase different poke bowls like the Spicy Ahi and the Fresh Ahi or they pick up several flavors of poke by pound with multiple servings of rice.
So, if you’re planning to visit Foodland Lahaina for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. The poke counter, however, does not have the same hours of operation as the store so be sure to get their early before they shut down for the night.
Times Supermarket (lahaina grocery stores)
Times Supermarket is another great Lahaina grocery store you need to visit! It’s a long standing staple grocery store in the area and it’s well-stocked. In fact, one guest even went so far as to say that the supermarket was perfect for all of her condo needs. She was able to get everything she needed to prepare her basic meals as well as to make on the go snacks and drinks for road trips.
So, if you’re planning to visit Times Supermarket for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. It’s conveniently located by the Honua Kai and Westin resorts which is a short walking distance.
Ilocandio Filipino Store (lahaina grocery stores)
Ilocandio Filipino Store is another great Lahaina grocery store you need to visit! It has the best Filipino food in Lahaina and it’s reasonably priced. In fact, one visitor went so far as to say that the lechon at the store was crispy with a good balance of meat and fat.
Lechon, for those of you who don’t know, is a traditional pork dish from the Philippines that is derived from the Spanish word “roasted sucking pig”. The origin of the dish came from roasting piglets that were still young but as the dish grew in popularity, adult pigs were used instead.
So, if you’re planning to visit Ilocandio Filipino Store for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. The Filipino food there is truly authentic and it’s such a hidden gem.
ABC Store (lahaina grocery stores)
ABC Store is another great Lahaina grocery store you need to visit! Known as a popular Hawaiian chain, the ABC Stores are convenience stores that sell souvenirs, cosmetics, skin care and grocery items.
In fact, inside each ABC Store, you’ll also find a deli called Island Deli. The Island Deli sells a variety of food items that include but are not limited to prime ribs, loco moco, burgers, and pizza.
So, if you’re planning to visit an ABC Store for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. The location at Lahaina is very clean in addition to the bathrooms that are located outside.
Nagasako General Store (lahaina grocery stores)
Nagasako General Store is another great Lahaina grocery store you need to visit! Known as a family-owned operation, Nagasako General Store was started by the Nagasako family who built up a reputation of being supportive and generous to their community by helping others.
In fact, many visitors have even stated that the store is their favorite go-to place for quick and cheap food. The local and premade food items you can get include but are not limited to chicken katsu, roasted pork, spam musubi, and fried chicken.
So, if you’re planning to visit Nagasako General Store for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. The spam musubis are really popular there so make sure to get there early if you want them.
Longs Drugs Store (lahaina grocery stores)
Owned by CVS, Long Drugs Store is another great Lahaina grocery store you need to visit! In addition to grocery store items, Long Drugs Store also sells health and beauty products as well as personal care items.
In fact, the original name behind Long Drugs comes from the name “Clarence Doc Long” who opened the store in 1956. CVS, as a result, decided to keep the name after taking over the store due its high name recognition and geographical location.
So, if you’re planning to visit Long Drugs for the first time in Maui, I highly recommend it. It’s not too different from the mainland CVS and you can get everything you need there at once.
