Johann Sebastian Bach (famous germans)
One famous German person who made history is Johann Sebastian Bach. He was a composer of the Baroque era and the most celebrated member of a large family of German musicians. Although he was admired for his contemporaries as a harpsichordist and organist, he is now regarded as the greatest composer of all time.
His contributions to music include but are not limited to the Brandenburg Concertos, The Well-Tempered Clavier, and the Mass in B Minor. Bach was even able to bring together and survey the principal styles, forms, and national traditions of music that existed in previous generations and enrich them.
So, without him, we wouldn’t have the musical styles, genres, and landscapes we have today.
Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler (famous germans)
Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler were two other famous Germans who greatly contributed to society. They were both considered pioneers in automobile inventions since Benz developed the first one in Mannheim, Germany while Daimler developed the other in Stuttgart.
They both also set the standard for automotive design since Benz’s approach of integrating the engine, chassis, and drive into a single entity was the baseline for it.
In 1926, Benz and Daimler even merged their companies to create Daimler-Benz AG which was the world’s leading automobile manufacturer at the time.
So, without the contributions of these two, the automobile wouldn’t have been a reality today.
Hans Florian Zimmer (famous germans)
Hans Florian Zimmer is another famous German who made great contributions to society. He is a German film composer and music producer who has composed music for many Blockbuster films that include but are not limited to The Lion King, Gladiator, and The Da Vinci Code.
Zimmer is also known for his unique and creative process when he is composing which has inspired many other composers to experiment with new sounds and styles.
His music has even helped define some of the most beloved movies and TV shows of all time.
So, without him, we wouldn’t have the amazing musical score The Lion King has today.
Karl Marx (famous germans)
Karl Marx is another famous German who made great contributions to society. He was a German-born philosopher and political theorist who contributed his development of the theory of “historical materialism” to society. His theory analyzed society through the lens of class struggle that argued the conflict between the working class and the ruling class is the driving force behind historical change. This ultimately led to the prediction of the overthrow of capitalism and the establishment of a classless communist society.
Marx’s most famous work to society was The Communist Manifesto which outlined his ideas and inspired revolutionary movements globally.
So, without him, many people wouldn’t have had the courage to start political movements that aimed to overthrow capitalist and autocratic governments.
Diane Kruger (famous germans)
Diane Kruger is another famous German who made great contributions to society. She is a German actress who’s best known for her roles in Troy as Helen, National Treasure as Dr. Abigail Chase, and In the Fade as Katja.
In Troy, Kruger beat out Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman for the role of Helen which made her world famous. In National Treasure, her performance as Dr. Abigail Chase was amazing and other people said she was a classic beauty in the Grace Kelly mold. In In the Fade, she won a Cannes Film Festival Award for her performance as Katja in the German-language film.
So, without her, we would be missing the beautiful performance she gave in Troy that made the movie what it is today.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (famous germans)
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is another famous German who made great contributions to society. He was a German poet, novelist, and playwright who significantly contributed prolific literary works that influenced the Romantic movement.

So, without him, the Goethe-Institut would have never existed.
Gabriel Daniel Fahrenheit (famous germans)
Gabriel Daniel Fahrenheit is another famous German who made great contributions to society. He was a physicist who invented the mercury thermometer and developed the Fahrenheit temperature scale. This temperature scale is still being used in the United States and within the scale Fahrenheit even defined fixed points like the freezing and boiling points of water.
Fahrenheit also used purified mercury to create the first modern thermometer which allowed for more accurate temperature readings compared to previous designs. His invention overall revolutionized the ability to precisely measure temperature which had a huge impact on the scientific field and medicine.
So, without him, the United States wouldn’t have the temperature scale it uses today to measure the climate.
